About the Author Jana Meador is the author of two drama fiction novels “Under The Magpie’s Wings” and “The Edward Hewitt’s Story” as well as the nonfiction “Seven Lucky Stars,” which tells the story of a sled dog left to defend for himself only to find his second chance in life over two thousand miles away. Meador studied screenwriting at New York Film Academy. She adapted her novel “The Edward Hewitt’s Story” into a screenplay. A Great Example of how to Write a Good Novel By Kyle John Janison There’s a lot to like about Jana Meador’s “Under a Magpie’s Wings.” She explores a number of interesting themes, most notably loyalty to family vs. society and self-deception vs. pain of inner turmoil. This is done in the framework of an Italian immigrant grandfather and his multi-generational family, and Meador does an impressive job of creating realistic, intriguing characters. The story takes place in Montana’s beautiful mountain ranch country, and Meador nicely captures a sense of place wrought with symbolism. I’m looking forward to reading more of her works!

Meador nicely builds upon humanization By Martina Zelenka The core of the story is about the innate connection between family members, and their connectivity to one another. Meador nicely builds upon humanization, by creating realness in Marco, the main character, and by knowing what he wants and what his ultimate goal is.The book also has a few lyric poems, which inform us about the main hero and his girlfriend Annie. Through their words we feel what they are going through and what each is seeking out or subconsciously trying to deny.Under The Magpie’s Wings is a period piece, that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.Martina Whale

A very relaxing novel By Lucie Set in a beautiful Montana background which the author so well paints with her words is a very pleasent story of a family tragedy / mystery. The narration novel is flowing, you can just see yourself being part of the setting, seeing their lives unwind around you. And you can only wonder how will this all end up. The dilema of a young boy who saw something he didn't quite understand - who grew into the man of integrity but with a never answered questionmark about this one dark spot in his past.
