Jorgensen I thought it was going to be a pictorial of his career and building props but it is a bio .there's only small B/W pics of some of the stuff he did ,if he had pics printed like on the cover it would be five stars easy! interesting read on behind the curtain of movie making .buy it!

By Amazon Customer If you want know what it was like to be in the makeup effects "trenches" during the 80's and 90's this book is a must read. Shannon Shea writes a brutally honest account of just how unglamorous the business was and can be. As a fan I found the book completely fascinating and I can't wait for volume 2 to be released. Kudos to Mr. Shea.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Hated this book By Corey Hall I was greatly disappointed with this book. The thing that annoyed me the most was the formatting for the Kindle. Every time there was photo, text would get messed up (see attached images). It got to the point where I was dreading the photos. Now, I've had other books where the formatting was bad and if the book was good enough, I was able to overlook it. Unfortunately, that's not the case here. I was hoping for stories from an artist's point of view. Maybe how Shannon solved problems from a creative standpoint, and yeah, there's a little of that, but mostly it's about people he didn't get along with and a few people he did. I never got the impression I was reading the memoir of an artist, but that of an employee and a disgruntled one at that. I also felt the writing relied too much on just stating a sequence of events. There was no flourish. At some points it was almost like reading the minutes of a town meeting. Another thing I noticed was how often Shannon wasn't really responsible for anything important in any of the movies he's been involved in. You sculpted the hands of the Wolfman in Monster Squad? Yay. You watched other people sculpt the Predator and did a few molds? Whoop de freakin' do. It seems to me, at least in the part of his career covered by this book, that Shannon Shea is always surrounded by other more talented people.
