About the Author Anne Graham is the syndicated radio show host of Solutions in Plain Sight, and has earned Speaker of the Year accolades from the CEO peer mentoring group TEC/Vistage. She has served as an Executive in Residence at the University of British Columbia, as the Assistant Dean of Executive Programs at UBC, and has taught extensively in the award winning MBA program. She served as a Director for many years with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association and as the Vice Chair of the Burnaby Board of Trade. Anne was first named to the list of “who’s who in Canada” in 2004.

If you run a business - read this book By Ellen Rogin, CPA, CFP® I've read a lot of books on passion, business goals, time management, etc. but this is the first book I've read that combines thoughtful business growth with a credible discussion of profitability. Graham adds clarity for the readers with her explanations of the Return on People Benchmark and The Profitable Customer Ratio. There's advice on building a reputation based on quality, retaining customers, and delivering value. If you run a business this book is for you.

The formula is pretty simple: get a really good idea, split it up into a few supporting principles or concepts, and then fill it with stories and narrative to fill 200+ pages so the publish can sell it.This one is different.Right from the first chapter the author gives incredibly practical and extremely valuable information for maximizing your business. It's not just tips & tricks or advice about certain issues, it's a systematic strategy and a methodology from optimizing revenues in your company - while simultaneously optimizing culture and purpose. What a refreshing idea that one can maximize profits without sacrificing values, ethics and social responsibility.The formula - and accompanying downloads with industry benchmarks - for calculating return on employee and the rubric to grade your company based on your own financials easily makes this book worth 100x the price... And that's just the first chapter.By the second chapter I ordered a copy for my business manager and we are implementing the questions recommended for staff meetings in our weekly team planning session.If you have a business, get this book. If you are a soloprenuer, there is also incredibly valuable information as well, but I recommend you hire at least a part time VA to help you implement the strategies in here and free yourself up to do more of your highest value activities.

By Tiana This is an exceptional book. It's a modern union of information "should's" with direct "how to's". I have never found it so easy to use a book i'm reading and apply what i'm learning directly to my business. Anne C. Graham provides effective solutions to persisting industry issues. You might think that a book about Profitability is pretty dry stuff – boy, are you in for a surprise when you read this book – it’s a great read that packs a punch that doesn’t even hurt because Anne entertains you every step of the way while she’s dealing out tough-love questions to share with your team, inspiring you with colorful stories you can model, and sharing many moments when you’ll say “I knew that… but I’m not doing anything about it!” This book turned my thinking about profitability on its head. I thought it was about cost cutting and increasing revenues, but I realized that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A whole new world of opportunity opened up for me as I read through the practical, proven, profit plan that Anne lays out. Now that I know the big picture, I’m going back to the book to work through it page by page using the Action plans thoughtfully provided at the end of each chapter.
