Beside the rear window of the blacksmith shop Jasper Lanning held his withered arms folded against his chest. With the dispassionate eye and the aching heart of an artist he said to himself that his life work was a failure. That life work was the young fellow who swung the sledge at the forge, and truly it was a strange product for this seventy-year-old veteran with his slant Oriental eyes and his narrow beard of white. Andrew Lanning was not even his son, but it came about in this way that Andrew became the life work of Jasper.

Kept Me Glued to my Kindle By Amazon Customer This was my first Max Brand book, and I had no idea what to expect or even what the book was about when I picked it up. I'm so glad I did! Way of the Lawless is a Western which kept me up way past my bedtime - it's so riveting I had a hard time finding a good stopping place. The characters are well developed, even the minor ones. The story is well-written and moves along at a fast clip. The ending - well, I usually have a book completely figured out halfway through, but the ending caught me completely off guard. Adventure, (clean) romance, humor, personal reflection, this book has it all. I can't wait to read more of Max Brand's books.

By James Hobbs Frederick Schiller Faust wrote under 19 different pen names, the most popular being Max Brand. He was orphaned at an early age and worked as a cowhand during his formative years and attended the University of California, where he was known as a troublemaker. work influenced Louis L'Amour and hundreds of other western authors who followed the literary trail Brand had blazed. This is one of his best novels, violet, yet powerful with an ending that only Max could write. In some ways, it's sad these days are now gone - except for being able to pick up his novels once again. If you have never read one of his westerns, you could do no better than to pick up this one.

Characters are different, have different points of view, different actions and ways of expressing themselves -- but all of them captivate the reader, and this book does the same. I love the guy and wish he had lived to be 100. Anything that has his name on it is well worth reading. pay attention and you will learn lots about the wild, wild West!

A hermit & herbalist who searches and finds his true love By jpwolf@serv.net or Su Linn This romance novel in my mother's girlhood collection was the first novel I ever read. The Harvester, a hermit who lives alone and supports himself by growing, harvesting and drying medicinal herbs, has vision of a wonderful woman. He sets out in search of her among the city streets by knocking on doors and selling flowers. He finds his girl, but she is traumatized and ill. The Harvester builds a home for her and establishes a relationship only to have her become so ill she almost dies. How he wins both her life and love make this story one you will never forget! If only Hollywood knew, we could have an academy award if this were ever made into a movie - it's a treasure!

Midwest Book Review - this one deserves 100 stars By Laurel Johnson If there is a more beautiful story anywhere than The Harvester, I have yet to find it. This early 20th century classic is as fresh and meaningful today as it was close to a century ago. It speaks of life lived purely and respectfully, of the truest form of love any mortal ever knew, and describes our beautiful America before greed and carelessness trashed her splendor.David Langston is the Harvester, the Medicine Man. At age 26 he lives a solitary life with only his dog and horse to keep him company. He cultivates and harvests medicinal herbs and flowers on an acreage he has carefully developed. Here, in nature's pristine beauty and a world of thriving birds and wildlife, David dreams of someday finding a woman who will love him truly and passionately. He sees his Dream Girl in a vision and sets out with his typical persistence to find her. So certain is he that this lovely vision will become reality, he adds onto his small home and creates furniture lovingly by hand to meet her every comfort.Ruth Jameson is ill in body, mind and spirit, a thin pale wraith of a girl. But to David Langston she is beauty personified. Her past has all but killed her, but David has no doubts. He loves her and will sacrifice anything and everything to win her. But first she must be made whole through pure food and nature's medicine, both laced generously with a decent man's devotion. He marries the girl to save her from cruelty and squallor, and promises to put male desire on hold until she can come to him freely. In his heart of hearts, he knows there is a chance she will never love him but he's willing to face that heartbreak if only she can be well again.I've been reading The Harvester at intervals since I was 12 years old. But this is not a story for children. It has adult themes and dialog. The purity of prose and wonderful descriptions of America, the information about natural healing, and a love story that is unsurpassed make this book an amazing read today - as it was when first written. I give this book my most entusiastic recommendation.

By Anne Wingate http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RKSYOA/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_imgHow is the Harvester different from most other men?Because he is a MAN. He is a gentleman from head to toe, despite the fact that he lives in a log cabin and makes his living by collecting herbs from the wild, drying them, and selling them to pharmaceutical companies. When he has a vision of a girl he is fated to marry, he is horrified, because he is so happy in his life as it is that he doesn't want it to change, and he's certain that his married life would be like just about everyone else's: miserable. But he sets forth to find the girl, and has no luck with anything he tries, until he goes to harvest some wild ginseng and finds the girl crying because she had intended to harvest it to try to get enough money to leave her uncle's house, where she has been stuck since her mother's death from starvation in Chicago. Now her aunt has died, and she is alone with a brutal man.The Harvester impulsively proposes to her but promises her that he is marrying her to free her, not to enslave her, and he will ask for no marital rights. If she finds someone else she wants to marry, he will free her on grounds that the marriage was never consummated. (Stratton Porter is more delicate in her wording, but that is what she means.)The rest of the book has its great ups and its agonizing downs, and I don't want to write a spoiler. All I will add is that I have read this book cover to cover a minimum of once a year since I first read it when I was twelve, and I am now 67 and I still cry at the end of it. If you don't wipe tears from your eyes at least one time as you're reading this book, either you are hopelessly and heartlessly sophisticated, or else you had better call an ambulance at once, because there is considerable possibility that you are dead.I love this book. Although it is probably written for women, I would love to see every young man about fourteen years old read it, and maybe some of them would learn that being a man doesn't mean being foul-mouthed and open-zippered. Being a real man, the kind of man the Harvester is in this book, takes more cojones than most men ever think of having.

The Age of Innocence, by Edith Wharton

Amazon.com Review Somewhere in this book, Wharton observes that clever liars always come up with good stories to back up their fabrications, but that really clever liars don't bother to explain anything at all. This is the kind of insight that makes The Age of Innocence so indispensable. Wharton's story of the upper classes of Old New York, and Newland Archer's impossible love for the disgraced Countess Olenska, is a perfectly wrought book about an era when upper-class culture in this country was still a mixture of American and European extracts, and when "society" had rules as rigid as any in history.

Review "It is one of the best novels of the twentieth century and ... a permanent addition to literature." -- -- New York Times Book Review, October 17, 1920"It is one of the best novels of the twentieth century and ... a permanent addition to literature." -- New York Times Book Review, October 17, 1920

Passion and the outsider By EA Solinas It was a glittering, sumptuous time when hypocrisy was expected, discreet infidelity tolerated, and unconventionality ostracized. That is the Gilded Age, and nobody knew its hypocrises better than Edith Wharton.... and nobody portrayed them as well. "The Age of Innocence" is a trip back in time to the stuffy upper crust of "old New York," taking us through one respectable man's hopeless love affair with a beautiful woman -- and the life he isn't brave enough to have.Newland Archer, of a wealthy old New York family, has become engaged to pretty, naive May Welland. But as he tries to get their wedding date moved up, he becomes acquainted with May's exotic cousin, Countess Ellen Olenska, who has returned home after dumping her cheating husband. At first, the two are just friends, but Newland becomes more and more entranced by the Countess' easy, free-spirited European charm. After Newland marries May, the attraction to the mysterious Countess and her free, unconventional life becomes even stronger. He starts to rebel in little ways, but he's still mired in a 100% conventional marriage, job and life. Will he become an outcast and go away with the beautiful countess, or will he stick with May and the safe, dull life that he has condemned in others? There's nothing too scandalous about "Age of Innocence" in a time when starlets acquire and discard boyfriends and husbands like old pantyhose -- it probably wasn't in the 1920s when it was first published. But then, this isn't a book about sexiness and steam -- it's part bittersweet romance, part social satire, and a look at what happens when human beings lose all spontaneity and passion.Part of this is due to Wharton's portrayal of New York in the 1870s -- opulent, cultured, pleasant, yet so tied up in tradition that few people in it are able to really open up and live. It's a haze of ballrooms, gardens, engagements, and careful social rituals that absolutely MUST be followed, even if they have no meaning. It's a place "where the real thing was never said or done or even thought."And Wharton writes distant, slightly mocking prose that outlines this sheltered little society. Her writing opens as slowly and beautifully as a rosebud, letting subtle subplots and powerful, hidden emotions drive the story. So don't be discouraged by the endless conversations about flowers, ballrooms, gloves and old family scandals that don't really matter anymore. In the middle of all this, Newland is a rather dull, intelligent young man who thinks he's unconventional. But he becomes more interesting as he struggles between his conscience and his longing for the Countess. And as "Age of Innocence" winds on, you gradually see that he doesn't truly love the Countess, but what she represents -- freedom from society and convention. The other two angles of this love triangle are May and Ellen. May is (suitably) pallid and rather dull, though she shows some different sides in the last few chapters. And Ellen is a magnificent character -- alluring, mysterious, but also bewildered by New York's hostility to her ways. And she's even more interesting when you realize that she isn't trying to rebel, but simply being herself."Age of Innocence" is a subtle look at life in Gilded Age New York, telling the story of a man desperately in love with a way of life he hasn't got the courage to pursue. Exquisite in its details, painful in its beauty.

A book that should be shared between mothers and daughters By A Customer I find it interesting and in some ways disturbing how few (openly at least) female viewpoints are expressed among the reviews of this book. Indeed, some of reviews make it appear that there are quite a few males out there who believe females are a sexual "tabula rasa" on which they can write their judgements of what constitutes morally appropriate behavior. This book must be understood not simply as art, but as a psychological statement, namely that sexuality exists within each of us from infancy on and parents and society deny that at their own risk. When I was the age of the girls in this book there was no one with the courage to come forward and openly depict the flowering of female sexuality. I lived with confusion and shame about my body and my desires, hurtful feelings that lasted until I was well into my adulthood.I came across this book in a store one day while looking for something else. I spotted the title and I vaguely remembered a news story about some people wanting to ban it, so I thought I would look at it out of curiosity. The images in it were so beautiful I almost started to cry right there, it was as though I found vindication for the very core of my being. After taking it home, I decided to share it with my nine-year old daughter with whom I had just recently had "The Talk". It was wonderful being able to show her how her body would change and how she would be beautiful even as she changed from a girl into a woman. It is true there are already books out there that are supposed to address the issue, but so often they take a clinical approach that is scary in its own right. The artistry of this book, combined with the photographer's selection of natural-looking girls (you will not find made-up or coiffed girls in the pages of this book), will, in my opinion, help any girl appreciate her changing body.Mothers, share this book with your daughters, it will help make so clear the many changes they are going through and how they are positive. No girl should ever have to feel shame of her own body and this book is an important step.

By Mary Whipple Newland Archer, the protagonist of this ironically entitled novel set in the late nineteenth century, is a proper New York gentleman, and part of a society which adheres to strict social codes, subordinating all aspects of life to doing what is expected, which is synonymous with doing what it right. As the author remarks early in the novel, "Few things were more awful than an offense against Taste." Newland meets and marries May Welland, an unimaginative, shallow young woman whose upbringing has made her the perfect, inoffensive wife, one who knows how to behave and how to adhere to the "rules" of the society in which they live. When Newland is reintroduced to May's cousin, Countess Ellen Olenska, who has left her husband in Europe and now wants a divorce, he finds himself utterly captivated by her independence and her willingness to risk all, socially, by flouting convention. Both Ellen and Newland are products of their upbringing and their culture, however, and they resist their feelings because of their separate social obligations. Various meetings between them suggest that their feelings are far stronger than what is obvious on the surface, and the question of whether they will finally state the obvious or act on their feelings constitutes the plot.Wharton creates an exceptionally realistic picture of New York in the post-Civil War era, a time in which aristocrats of inherited wealth found themselves competing socially with parvenus. Her ability to show the conflict between a person's need for social acceptance and the desire for personal freedom is striking. As the various characters make their peace with their decisions--either to challenge or yield to social dictates--the novel achieves an unusual dramatic tension, subtle because of its lack of direct confrontation and powerful in its effects on individual destinies. This is, in fact, less an "age of innocence" than it is an age of social manipulation.Wharton herself manipulates the reader--some of her best dialogues and scenes are those the characters never actually have--conversations that they imagine, confrontations which they never allow themselves to have, and resolutions which happen through inaction rather than through decision-making. Filled with acute social observations, the novel shows individuals convincing themselves that obeying social dictates is the right thing to do. Though the novel sometimes seems claustrophobic due to its limitations on action, Age of Innocence brilliantly captures the age and attitudes of the era. Mary Whipple

Better Real Estate Decisions: Tips for Sellers, Buyers, and Noivce Investors, by Mark O'Donnell

Review "Mark O’Donnell has written an immensely useful book for people who need an introduction to the world of real estate. For most people, any involvement in real estate can be a significant investment, and it’s critical to make the best decision at every step in the process. My favorite thing about this book is Mark’s easy conversational style - and most importantly, every word of it is useful. This book is designed to inform the beginner about every major part of the real estate buying, selling, and investing process so the ordinary person can walk away with the best possible result. Mark is a MIT Sloan School graduate with more than a decade of very successful real estate experience - he has sold over $200 million in real estate since 2005. He has much to teach us about the business, and this book is an excellent place to start. - Nathan J. Barnes, PhD., Editor, The Sharper Quill.”

It may be more and, all in, they are very valuable. If you are contemplating a sale or purchase of a residence, a large capital transaction for most people, a three percent difference in the conveyance price can easily be a five figure sum. This type of saving might be readily achievable if the principles proposed by the author are followed.Reading this book has been highly beneficial for me. I have been in residential real estate for fifty years including four years as a house builder and thirty seven years as a multi-unit property owner. I learned a great deal from Mr. O’Donnell as e.g., that the staging of a house prior to sale can be expected to increase sales proceeds by 3% along with his suggested formula for the scheduling of price reductions. The book is written in very plain accessible language that you do not have to be a pro to understand. I think the author has condensed ten years of relevant experience into a three hour read.I highly recommend this book!John Joyce

From the Back Cover

Amid a backdrop of war, conspiracy, and murder, this historical play depicts the troubled reign of King John, who ruled England from 1199 to 1216. Shakespeare's most enigmatic king struggles with the shifting loyalties of his nobles as well as threats from his covetous heirs and the burdens of his own conscience. The play, which abounds in battles and betrayals, explores issues of politics, inheritance, and legitimacy.John's problems are threefold: he has usurped the throne from the rightful heir, his nephew Arthur; his relationship with the Vatican is troubled; and he is highly unpopular with his own subjects. Shakespeare's portrayal of the despised monarch finds a more heroic figure in Sir Richard Plantagenet, an illegitimate son of Richard I. The Bastard, as John's loyal nephew is known, forms the moral center of the play as well as a source of irreverent humor and honesty. A cynical play about power struggles, King John offers a remarkably contemporary mix of history and ironic commentary, balanced in equal measures by elements of tragedy and satire.Dover (2015) republication of the edition originally published by the Caxton Publishing Company, London, n.d.See every Dover book in print atwww.doverpublications.com

About the Author Arguably the greatest English-language playwright, William Shakespeare was a seventeenth-century writer and dramatist, and is known as the Bard of Avon. Under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth I, he penned more than 30 plays, 154 sonnets, and numerous narrative poems and short verses. Equally accomplished in histories, tragedies, comedy, and romance, Shakespeare s most famous works include Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, The Taming of the Shrew, and As You Like It.

Like many of his contemporaries, including Christopher Marlowe, Shakespeare began his career on the stage, eventually rising to become part-owner of Lord Chamberlain s Men, a popular dramatic company of his day, and of the storied Globe Theatre in London.

Extremely popular in his lifetime, Shakespeare s works continue to resonate more than three hundred years after his death. His plays are performed more often than any other playwright s, have been translated into every major language in the world, and are studied widely by scholars and students.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. this was quite funny and entertaining By Maya Chhabra This review is for a different edition (New Penguin) so ignore the format notes. For one of the less-beloved histories, this was quite funny and entertaining. It was a lot less dull than Henry VI Part I and moved along briskly. The Bastard is a fantastic character and Hubert and John himself both interesting. The supporting characters, from Constance to Arthur to the Dauphin to to Salisbury to Pandulph, are consistently and distinctly characterized. One thing that I think people miss is that the first half of the play (everything up till John suborns Hubert to kill Arthur) is hilarious, and deliberately so. The whole business with Angiers and the papal legate should have the audience rolling on the floor, to say nothing of the Bastard's antics. The play takes its cue from him- capable of seriousness, but always with an edge of humor.Highlights include anything with the Bastard (who banters with Eleanor of Aquitaine in his first scene!), Hubert and John's interactions, anything where John is a blatant hypocrite, and Constance's "I am not mad. This hair I tear is mine" speech. And the bit where the Bastard stops the lords from murdering Hubert and then turns out to wrongly suspect Hubert himself. Not top-grade Shakespeare but not as bad as its reputation either, and not the worst of the histories. The New Penguin edition was annoying in that it had endnotes instead of footnotes, requiring constant flipping back and forth. It only cost a dollar secondhand, so I couldn't say no, but if you have a choice, go with Signet instead.

When Death has set his seal on an eminent man's career, there is a not unnatural curiosity to know something of his life, as revealed by himself, particularly in letters to intimate friends. "All biography ought, as much as possible, to be autobiography," says Stevenson, and of all autobiographical material, letters are the most satisfactory. Generally written on the impulse of the moment, with no idea of subsequent publication, they come, as it were, like butter fresh from the churning with the impress of the mind of the writer stamped distinctly upon them. One letter of George Sand's written to Flaubert, or one of Goethe's to Frau von Stein, or his friend Stilling, is worth pages of embellished reminiscences.

Forty years after Japan opened themselves up to the West, Lafcadio, the product of an Irishman and a Greek WOman, and finding no place on earth where he belonged, came to rest in Japan, eventually marrying a Japanese Samurai woman and creating a family with her. Naturalized by the government on the occasion of his marriage and teaching for many years as well as writing many books of Japanese folktales, this biography is incredibly interesting.

This kindle biography of him explains his life and how he has affected so many lives even to this day. I read some of the quotes over and over and it really helped me to understand his path in life. He ended up in Japan and this country has had a powerful hook on me also as I lived there for over a year and can relate to a lot of what he writes about even though it was over a hundred years sooner than me. This is one of the best biographies that I have read.

One hundred years' and one ago, in Boston, at ten of the clock one April night, a church steeple had been climbed and a lantern hung out. At ten, the same night, in mid-river of the Charles, oarsmen two, with passenger silent and grim, had seen the signal light out-swung, and rowed with speed for the Charlestown shore.

These free books are full of typos, I suppose that is not surprising for being free. They are the full series, just retyped by Susan Coolidge and much more detailed than the movies. If you've seen the movie series, I honestly recommend reading the books you'll find out a lot more with characters fleshed out more fully and more details than the movies could include. No spoilers here...sorry.

We are not meant to touch hearts. We all have one, but most of us will never see one. The heart surgeon now has that privilege but, for centuries, the heart was out of reach even for surgeons. So when a surgeon nowadays opens up a ribcage and mends a heart, it remains something of a miracle, even if, to some, it is merely plumbing.

As with plumbers, the quality of surgeons’ work varies. As with plumbers, surgeons’ opinion of their own prowess and their own attitude to risk are not always reliable. Measurement is key. We’ve had a century of effective evidence-based medicine. We’ve had barely a decade of thorough monitoring of clinical outcomes. Thanks to the ground-breaking risk modelling of pioneering surgeons like Samer Nashef, we at last know how to judge whether an operation is in a patient’s best interest, which hospital and surgeon would be best for that operation, when it might best be performed and what the exact level of risk is. We have at last made what is important in surgery measurable. But how should surgeons, and their patients, use these newfound insights?

Ever since his days as a medical student, Samer Nashef has challenged the medical profession to be more open and more accurate about the success of surgical procedures, for the sake of the patients. In The Naked Surgeon, he unclothes his own profession to demonstrate to his reader (and prospective patient) many revelations, such as the paradox at the heart of the cardiac surgeon’s craft: the more an operation is likely to kill you, the better it is for you. And he does so with absolute clarity, fluency and not a little wit.

Also here is a surgeon who is not afraid to speak out much to the annoyance of the "Establishment". I had a particular interest about the poor success rate for the 'triple A' as my brother had an emergency surgery carried out in January 1999 in Budapest - Hungary. He is the sole survivor from the patients operated on in 1999. He survived because of the fantastic surgical intervention he received and also because he realised that he was given a second chance for life and he has made substantial changes to his style of living. The book offers a view the medical world with its merits and failings. I am re-reading the book all over again.

As a doctor, I've really enjoyed it, but it's accessible to anyone with a thinking mind. Dr Nashef explores the modern concept of evidence-based medicine, or, in this case, evidence-based surgery. It's the only sensible way, really, to think about medicine, but when he was a medical student (about the same time as I was), the 'pearls of wisdom' from your boss were strewn along the path of career glory. There was no need to check if the elder statesmen of medicine were right or wrong. Of course, they were right! Because they said so.Dr Nashef was at the forefront of EBM, which has helped bring medicine more and more into the scientific world. Read his book. You'll love it.

I was only a young fellow when these things began to happen among us, but I remember very well the morning when it first came out about the Bewick carrier. He was postman, too, but had got permission to keep a horse and cart so that he might make a good little bit by fetching parcels and orders from town. Town to us meant East Dene, and Bewick, to which Harry went, lay away to the east among the woods and hills. It was a lonesome place, Bewick, and, indeed, is still, though now they have got a railway coming within eight miles or so. But the mystery of the Moat Wood happened before there was any talk of railways.

About the Author S. R. (Saumel Rutherford) Crockett was a Scottish novelist who wrote over 40 works in the Kailyard School fashion, a style of writing developed in the late 1800s as a reaction against coarse representations of Scottish life. Crockett s contemporaries in the Kailyard School included J. M. Barrie, George MacDonald, and Ian Maclaren. Crockett s most popular work, The Raiders, captures the excitement and anxiety of Galloway smugglers. The Black Douglas was credited by J. R. R. Tolkien as an influence on his development of the character Sauron in his Lord of the Rings trilogy. S. R. Crockett died in France in 1914.

English village mystery, with romance and gothic elements By Cheryl This was a good English village mystery, told from the point of view of an 18 year old boy. The story has bits of humor, interesting characters, romance, and some gothic elements. The mystery begins with Joe and his friend Elsie finding the empty blood-spattered mail cart, still being pulled by a horse. The mail carrier's body is nowhere to be found, and the incident reminds people of other strange disappearances in the area. This book has an ancient manor house, secret tunnels, hidden rooms, murder, kidnapping, and madness. Joe's often humorous narration prevents the story from becoming too dark. Interesting, unique, and highly recommended.

Exception has been taken to the title of this seeming tomfoolery on the ground that the Catherine it represents is not Great Catherine, but the Catherine whose gallantries provide some of the lightest pages of modern history. Great Catherine, it is said, was the Catherine whose diplomacy, whose campaigns and conquests, whose plans of Liberal reform, whose correspondence with Grimm and Voltaire enabled her to cut such a magnificent figure in the eighteenth century.

An interesting farce By Israel Drazin Shaw calls this short play a "bravura" piece, meaning that it was composed for a particular actress as a vehicle for her to display her acting skills. It is actually a farce - a play that is light in tone, in which the plot depends upon situation rather than character; a ridiculous unrealistic sham; a mockery. Shaw introduces the historical Catherine as a rather silly German ruler of Russia, who dislikes everything associated with being a ruler, who likes sexual liaisons. She meets an English captain who is, as Shaw generally portrays Englishmen, a foolish undereducated snob, for Shaw (1856-1950), who was brilliant, was born an Irishman. Shaw tells us that the actress for whom he wrote the play performed excellently. We readers will find the play funny, although at times, like the Englishman, silly, but still worth reading for its humor.

I was actually looking for a biography about Catherine the Great, not a novel about Catherine the Great. I did start to read the book, and found that books need to grab me from the beginning, and this book did not. I'm sure there are people out there that would love this book as it is written by the great George Bernard Shaw. Like I stated earlier, I was actually looking for a biography regarding Catherine the Great. She was definitely a woman ahead of her time, she was not a Romanov, and became Czarina against all odds. I gave this book a 3 as I didn't dislike it, and didn't finish enough of it to give it a 4 or 5 star rating that it probably deserves!

I don't know enough about this time period to know if the facts were correct. However at parts it seemed the book moved way too quick given the period it was supposed to represent.

So poorly rendered as to be unreadable By Amazon Customer I downloaded this book via Kindle app onto two different devices (phone and tablet) and on both the book was so poorly rendered with text across images, text squeezed into long tall columns, and the same page repeated over and over, that it became an exercise in frustration to read. Ultimately I gave up and farewelled the few dollars it cost. I cannot in all honesty say that the factual content is poor, only that I lack the fortitude to find out. Other may have better luck.

A chance encounter at the most prestigious nightclub in Miami led the author, a business executive at a multimillion dollar import/export company, to meet a high-performing network marketer who wanted to tap into his connections in order to expand to South America. In the following meetings, the network marketer and his inner circle told the executive how the industry really works. Network marketing generates more than $167 billion in annual profits, but 98% of the people in the industry fail and end up in a worse financial situation than when they started. The truth of how the top 2% bring in mountains of cash will shock you. It will inspire you. It will get you thinking. It could even change how you live your life. Once you understand this book’s principle there is no limit to its value. This information is not yet in the public domain. It might be hard to hear. But it’s real. Hunt or Fail explains how the industry’s secret is fully responsible for the top 2%’s profits and is fully replicable for yourself and your team. And best of all? You can succeed in this business with less effort than you would ever have thought possible. No matter what your opinion is on the realities explained in this book, they will start a new dialogue in the business community for years to come.

Some good points made, but it was a fair amount of build up with little substance other than make yourself look and act like the top 2%. You are also encouraged to build your confidence, take public speaking, and read more business books. interesting, but probably not going to make me a millionaire.
